visitor information

The China Folk House site will be closed to visitors in the months of December and January due to cold weather. Please come visit us in February!

The China Folk House Retreat is at 305 Friends Way, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Getting there

The China Folk House Retreat is on a property called “Rolling Ridge Conservancy.” Once you turn on Mission Road, you will need to travel down a long gravel road (1.5 miles) with some blind curves so please drive carefully.

Follow signs for “Niles Cabin” and the “China Folk House."

There is a ford across a small creek. Small cars drive across this ford regularly. For perspective, Prius’ do fine, but a Mini Cooper may find it a bit too rough.

The Niles Cabin is next to the Folk House and you can park before you reach either site at the small fork that separates the paths to the cabin and the Folk House.

Dress and miscellaneous

Dress casually and comfortably with sensible walking shoes. Bring a water. The spaces are mostly open air and not heated although if it is cold, we will have an outdoor fire. If you like to hike, there are many trails long and short and you can access a trail map here

Note that cell service exists for most services here but does not work inside the Folk House (the walls are thick) and there is no WiFi.

Thank you for visiting!

We hope you enjoyed your visit at the China Folk House. Your support will help us to continue providing immersive learning experiences for others. Every little bit helps!
