Summer 2022 Camp Wholesome
"Camp Wholesome" China Folk House Summer is back!
We're excited to announce that China Folk House Retreat will be hosting our fourth Summer experiential learning program for high school students.
Who: current high school students (grades 9 to 12)
What: rebuilding the China Folk House, courtyard, and gardens
When: June 13 to July 10 (week-by-week registration)
Where: Friends Wilderness Center, 305 Friends Way, Harpers Ferry WV 25425
Why: creating a living museum of rural folklife and Cultural Exchange Center
How: learning by doing and having wholesome fun!
Our goals for Summer 2022 are to complete the Tibetan kitchen and to begin an exciting new project to build a traditional organic vegetable garden, an"ethnobotany" garden of medicinal plants, and a full courtyard with stone walls, planters, a moon gate, lattice fencing--LOTS of learning-by-doing related to farming and landscape!
[NOTE: We have reached capacity for our Summer 2022 camps. Plan to join us in 2023 or for other events tba.
All students currently in grades 9 - 12 are eligible to participate. Note that priority is given to rising 11th and 12th graders if the program becomes over-enrolled
Program tuition of $1,150 per week includes all living expenses, activities, supplies
Financial aid is available (email chinafolkhouse@gmail.com for FA information)
participating students contribute community service to CFHR, a 501(c)3 non-profit

We have regular groups of wonderful volunteers who join us on weekends
